When Darkness Comes


When darkness comes,
I’m all alone,
Already lost,
Within a sea,
Of helplessness,
I slowly drown,
When darkness comes,
It pulls me down,
It tugs at me,
With blackened hands,
It spites my mind
With bleak assault,
When darkness comes,
It’s all my fault,
Too paltry now
To ever know
Too damaged now
To understand
When darkness comes,
Can’t stay  my hand,
Invited knife,
So willing now,
It’s eager vane,
To find my own,
When darkness comes,
There’s no one home,
No reason’d voice,
Or empty words
To aid my choice
All is unheard
When darkness comes,
It blows away
With wordless lips
Everything sways
There’s just me,
When darkness comes,
Already numb.
